{"id":1039,"date":"2009-02-09T05:14:57","date_gmt":"2009-02-09T13:14:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.gtdtimes.com\/?p=1039"},"modified":"2009-02-09T05:14:57","modified_gmt":"2009-02-09T13:14:57","slug":"productivity-has-become-critical-issue-for-new-financial-managers-survey-says","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gettingthingsdone.com\/2009\/02\/productivity-has-become-critical-issue-for-new-financial-managers-survey-says\/","title":{"rendered":"Productivity Has Become Critical Issue for New Financial Managers, Survey Says"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/gettingthingsdone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/gtdtimes\/2009\/02\/employmentgrowth.gif\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1040 alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/gettingthingsdone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/gtdtimes\/2009\/02\/employmentgrowth.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"219\" height=\"256\" \/><\/a>According to the results of a recent survey that appeared in USA Today on Dec. 29, 2008, productivity has become one of the top challenges for executives.\u00a0 The survey was conducted by Robert Half Management Resources.<\/p>\n<p>If the survey is to be believed &#8212; and there&#8217;s no reason why it should not &#8212; then there&#8217;s never been a better time to institute GTD either was an individual or within your company&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Based upon the study, 30% of CFOs felt that increasing productivity was their top challenge, followed by boosting profitability (20% of respondents).\u00a0 1400 CFOs working for firms with at least 20 emplooyees from across the country were queried in telephone interviews to generate the results.<\/p>\n<p>They were asked:\u00a0 \u201cWhich one of the following was the greatest challenge you faced in your first 100 days in your current position?\u201d Their responses:<\/p>\n<p>Increasing productivity<br \/>\n30%<br \/>\nIncreasing profitability<br \/>\n20%<br \/>\nPersonnel decisions, such as hiring or staff reductions<br \/>\n13%<br \/>\nBuilding rapport with new staff<br \/>\n13%<br \/>\nBuilding rapport with your CEO<br \/>\n8%<br \/>\nNone<br \/>\n9%<br \/>\nOther\/don&#8217;t know<br \/>\n7%<\/p>\n<p>100%<br \/>\nFrom the original article:<\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 30px\"><em>\u201cNew financial managers need to make an immediate impact,\u201d said Paul McDonald, executive director of Robert Half Management Resources. \u201cIn today\u2019s economy, especially, executives may have less time to prove themselves and are expected to demonstrate tangible results.\u201d<br \/>\nMcDonald noted that while just 13 percent of CFOs cited building rapport with staff as their top priority, managers should not overlook this critical step. \u201cA creative and motivated team is essential to enhanced productivity. Corporate leaders need to connect with their employees and understand what motivates them to perform at their highest levels.\u201d<br \/>\nAbout the Survey<br \/>\nThe national study was developed by Robert Half Management Resources. It was conducted by an independent research firm and is based on more than 1,400 telephone interviews with CFOs from a random sample of U.S. companies with 20 or more employees. For the study to be statistically representative and ensure that companies from all segments are represented, the sample was stratified by geographic region and number of employees.
